What’s a Carrot Race?

The Carrot League is a Fantasy Football league that started in Houston, TX in 2015. Every year, the league holds a “Carrot Race”, which traditionally has been in Midtown Houston.

The Carrot Race is comprised of 4 parties:

  • The Carrot – the last place finisher in the most recently ended fantasy football season
  • The Rabbit – the second-to-last-place finisher
  • The League – all other participants in the league
  • The Spectators – everyone who attends to witness the spectacle

At the beginning of the race, a timer starts and the Carrot begins drinking a standard 16 oz. pint of beer as fast as possible. The Carrot then has to run to 4 other bars and back to the original bar, finishing a beer at each location (6 pints total). After two minutes, the Rabbit drinks his beer as fast as he can and then chases the Carrot. If at any of the subsequent stops, the Rabbit finishes his beer before the Carrot, the Rabbit has “caught” the Carrot and the Carrot must buy the Rabbit’s drinks for the rest of the event. The same thing plays out with the League chasing the Rabbit, but anyone who catches the Rabbit is owed 1 drink instead of drinks for the rest of the night. The spectators are welcome to join in the chase or follow along at a leisurely rate. If a spectator catches the Rabbit, the Rabbit might buy them a drink but is not required to.

We love when our friends attend the race, and it is usually a bit of a spectacle. Watch for details for this year’s Carrot Race and join us if you can make it!
